Peaktellers Cafe: Authentic American-Style Cakes at Or Tor Kor

I walked past the charming Peaktellers Cafe at Or Tor Kor Market several times before finally stepping in. To be honest, I’m often skeptical of “pretty” cafes in Bangkok—so many prioritize aesthetics over flavor, resulting in cakes that are beautiful but far too sweet for my liking.

However, one item on their menu broke my skepticism: the Key Lime Pie. Since it’s a rarity in Bangkok, I ordered a slice for my husband’s birthday last year. It was wonderfully “lime-y” and authentic. That one slice turned me into a fan.

The “USA Recipe” Mystery

After my visit, I did a bit of digging. While some social media posts claim the shop itself is a “famous US brand,” the owner’s interviews tell a more humble, authentic story. The recipes actually come from the chef’s relatives in the USA.

On Google, they note: “We have over 30 kinds of freshly baked, homemade pastries, primarily made with almond flour, with a rotating menu (recipes from our previous shop in America).” This explains why the flavors feel so much more grounded and traditional than your average Bangkok cafe.

The Tasting: Pistachio Cheesecake & Key Lime Pie

  • Pistachio Cheesecake (179 THB): I took this one to-go to share with my husband! It’s a New York-style cheesecake base blended with real pistachio (giving it a lovely natural green hue). It’s topped with a Raffaello (coconut-almond wafer). It’s the plainest, least-sweet cheesecake I’ve found in the city—perfect for those who actually want to taste the cheese and nuts, not just sugar.
  • Key Lime Pie (155 THB): Billed as a “Real USA Recipe,” this features a Macadamia Crunch crust. There is often a queue for this specific pie, and for good reason—it’s zesty, bright, and perfectly balanced.

A Shelf of 40+ Choices

The variety here is staggering. With over 40 types of cakes and pastries on display, I initially wondered how they could possibly sell through it all. But given the quality—and the fact that they use premium, mostly imported ingredients—it’s clear they have a dedicated following. While the prices are a bit higher than average, the quality of the ingredients (like the almond flour and macadamias) definitely justifies the cost.

The Chocolate drinks are also highly recommended here, with menu using French chocolates, same chocolate used for their cake and plenty of coffee beans to choose from.

💡 Pro-Tip: Shop In-Person to Save

The price difference between the shop and delivery apps is quite significant. If you can make it to Or Tor Kor, it’s worth the trip:

  • Pistachio Cheesecake: 179 THB (Shop) vs. 229 THB (App)
  • Key Lime Pie: 155 THB (Shop) vs. 189 THB (App)

Not Your Typical Tourist

A passionate advocate for independent and solo travel, I traded life in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for the vibrant streets of Bangkok, Thailand. This shift is all thanks to a "chance encounter" in 2009 that led to marriage with my Thai husband. I currently split my time between Bangkok (my main base) and Kuala Lumpur for family—documenting the unique blend of a Malaysian life lived abroad.
