Cake baking with family

Today marks my third time baking with my eldest sis, my youngest nephew and my nieces.

I look forward to these baking sessions, to spend a little bit of time together as a family. No one likes cleaning up a huge mess, so thanks to eldest sis that we learn to cut down the chaos and keep things minimally messy.

How proud a yiyi (aunt) I am,  witnessing my nephew grown into a considerate young man, one who is patient with young children. He allowed his cousins to have the most fun: crack the eggs, do the mixing, etc, and he happily stepped in when they needed him .. such as tilting the heavy mixing bowl, handling the hot oven, etc.

Wil, heart you lots

Today, we used their new state-of-the-art Thermomix, which they just got it yesterday. Its guided cooking functions are perfect for cooking for dummies. Pretty cool stuff, I was oooh-ing and aaah-ing all the time. Of course, it comes with a hefty price tag too.

We also followed the two recipes from Thermomix’s recipe book: the baked cheesecake and marble cake recipes. Our marble cake turned into chocolate cake, haha .. but these are our first attempt, so I am sure that we can make it better next time!

The cakes are still in ‘cooling’ phase, will get to try tomorrow evening. Can’t wait!

Not Your Typical Tourist

A passionate advocate for independent and solo travel, I traded life in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for the vibrant streets of Bangkok, Thailand. This shift is all thanks to a "chance encounter" in 2009 that led to marriage with my Thai husband. I currently split my time between Bangkok (my main base) and Kuala Lumpur for family—documenting the unique blend of a Malaysian life lived abroad.
