El Gaucho has always held a special place in our hearts. We’ve visited a couple of times before, once on a 50% Eatigo deal, and we’ve always loved their steaks. My husband, in particular, had been keen to return and support the Erawan Bangkok outlet, which felt a little quiet when we passed by during weekdays.

For those unfamiliar, El Gaucho is a steakhouse chain with origins in the Czech Republic, not Argentina, though its cuisine and culture are inspired by classic Argentinian steakhouses. Their presence spans across Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Czechia, and Slovakia.

By luck, I discovered their “Super Tuesday” promotion, which offers a fantastic 50% discount off all grilled steaks on the first Tuesday of every month throughout 2025. The perfect excuse for a return visit!

Our “Super Tuesday” Experience

We learned that making an online reservation for the busiest hours of the promotion day (7:00 PM to 8:00 PM) wasn’t possible. Given that the available slots were in 30-minute blocks—6:30 PM felt too risky and 8:30 PM was too late—we decided to try our luck with a walk-in. We arrived around 7:40 PM and were easily seated. It’s worth noting that we were asked if we had a reservation, which suggests that a phone booking might still be possible for this time slot. The service was friendly and efficient throughout the night.

We took full advantage of the deal by ordering two steaks:

250g New York Striploin: 845 baht (after discount)
250g Wagyu Rib Eye: 1,195 baht (after discount)

We also added a few regular-priced items to our order:

Garlic mashed potatoes (250 baht)
Mixed green salads (450 baht)
Red wine sauce (150 baht)
Aqua Panna 500ml mineral water (190 baht – a small luxury!)

My husband was particularly happy that his medium-rare steak was cooked to perfection. It’s a small detail, but one that makes all the difference for a true steak lover.

The Verdict: A Delicious, Pricey Treat

While we initially thought the promotion might make this a monthly affair, the total bill came out to 3,625 baht, including the 10% service charge and 7% VAT. Even with a massive 50% discount on the steaks, the cost of the sides, sauce, and that expensive mineral water adds up quickly.

However, for a special occasion, this promotion is a phenomenal opportunity. My husband has long been eyeing the massive Tomahawk, which is too huge for just the two of us (with a minimum order of 1,500g). With the discount, it comes in at just 290 baht per 100 grams—a tempting reason to return with more beef-eating friends!

The only minor hiccup was the timing of the complimentary bread, which we’ve always loved, especially with the delicious grilled garlic. The steaks arrived just five minutes later, and since we were still chatting and hadn’t started on the bread, it created a slight rush. We had to quickly swap out our small plates for hot ones and hustle to enjoy the bread before the steaks got cold. It’s a small detail, but one to keep in mind if you prefer a more leisurely pace to your meal.

Overall, it was a good meal with a great atmosphere, likely thanks to the many fellow diners taking advantage of the same promotion. As a nice touch, we were also offered a complimentary Belvedere Vodka shot after our meal, which we politely declined. Ultimately, El Gaucho’s “Super Tuesday” promotion is an excellent way to experience a high-quality steakhouse without the full price tag. Mandatory Reservations: You MUST reserve your table before 12:00 PM on the promotion date to avail of the offer.
No Walk-Ins: Unlike previous years, walk-in customers are no longer privy to the 50% discount.
Limited Seating: Only selected locations are participating.
