Celebrating Family Day วันครอบครัว of the Thai New Year

This could be the first year I spent Family Day, or วันครอบครัว of the Thai New Year with bf’s family. It falls on Day 2 of Songkran เทศกาลสงกรานต์ , a day whereby Thais will spend their time with their family.

The day was made even more eventful, as it was celebrated with bf’s dad side of the family at Chacheongsao ฉะเชิงเทรา.

A “pot luck” meal contributed by host and guests filled our tummy. There was also a “water blessing” ceremony, pouring scented water over the palms of the elders in the family and receiving blessing in return. We also gave them a flower garland each.

I hope that each and every one find peace this Songkran. Happy Songkran!

A passionate advocate for independent and solo travel, I traded life in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for the vibrant streets of Bangkok, Thailand. This shift is all thanks to a "chance encounter" in 2009 that led to marriage with my Thai husband. I currently split my time between Bangkok (my main base) and Kuala Lumpur for family—documenting the unique blend of a Malaysian life lived abroad.
